This is a new approach to refraction, combining tomography with numerical modeling. This
results in higher accuracy, higher speed, less memory, higher resolution, and more functionality.
The result is not simply an image. It's calibrated ground simulation.
GAP, a DEM-PFC (discrete element particle flow) numerical model optimized for dynamic
analyzed to determine refracted arrivals. The material properties of the model are iteratively
adjusted until the refracted arrivals in the model match the refracted arrivals collected in the
field.
GAP then generates PowerPoint animations and MS-Word report figures of the underlying
lithology, including 3D slices and views of velocity variations within each layer:
